Dear festival participants and friends, As you know, due to the pandemic that immobilized the world in 2020, we had to postpone the 33rd International Folklore Festival “Baltica” to the next year. The organizers, though, have actively prepared for the event, corresponded with the participants from foreign countries, implemented other preparatory actions. However, in this difficult and uncertain epidemiological situation, followed by unfavorable forecast for major international events in June, the three organizing countries – Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia – decided to change the format and the date of the festival, but still keeping the spirit of “Baltica”. Dear friends of the festival! We have to announce that the festival – its beautiful concerts and get-togethers – will not be taking place this year. However! “Baltica” is postponed to June 18–24, 2021. We are very grateful to everyone that has been helping in preparation and organization.Now, let’s prepare even more – we will meet, but just a little bit later!
International Folklore Festival BALTICA is one of the most significant of its kind in the Baltic States. Every year, since 1987, in accordance with interstate agreement, it has been held in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in turn. In 2021 the event will take place in Lithuania. The festival is included in the official list of events of CIOFF©. BALTICA gathers about 2000 participants of 10–12 guest folklore groups from different parts of the world and of Lithuania regions.
