Pjoviau ðienà
This dance is danced all over Lithuania differently. Hereby we provide
the variant, which has beens recorded in the East of Lithuania.

The sequence of the dance
Dancers in a pair stand one in front of another, join hands in a simple
way, a little lower than at a height of shoulders (man’s right, woman’s left). Other
hands are free (1 figure).
1. Swinging and turning round under the arm (8
bars) |

To dance the swinging step with outside
feet, waving joined hands in the direction of movement. |

To dance the movements of 1 bar in a
different direction. |

3-4 bar |
In two waltz steps a woman turns around
her right shoulder under a man’s right arm. A man leads a woman, stepping two additive
steps (2 figure). |

To repeat the movements of 1-4 bar,
starting to dance to a different direction. |

2. Going and waltz
(8 bars) |
1-2 bar |
Dancers, still joining hands in the same
way, dance two additive steps according to a woman (3 figure). |

To dance two additive steps to a different
direction (4 figure) |

5-8 bar |
Dancers join hands for a waltz and dance
waltz during the remaining four bars. |
